y2-y1

___

x2-x1

first find any two points on a line

then take the second point's (y) and subtract it from the first points (y)

then divide by the second (x) subtracted by the first points (x) like the (y)

the first (x,y) is the left dot of your two dots and the second (x,y) is the right dot of the two

the result is the slope of the line of the graph

ex. (8,7) (13,11)

(11-7) / (13-8)

slope = 4 / 5

(4up and 5 over)

hope this helped :)

How do you graph when the equation is not slope intercept form?

To graph an equation that is not in slope-intercept form, you can use the process of finding points on the graph and plotting them. Choose a few x-values, plug them into the equation to find the corresponding y-values, and plot those points on the graph. Then, connect the points with a smooth line to complete the graph.

How do you find slope using x and y intercepts?

Your x and y intercepts give you two points on the line of the graph. Use these two points in the slope equation m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1), and that gives you the slope.

How do you find the equation of a graph?

You find the equation of a graph by finding an equation with a graph.

Find the equation of a tangent line?

find the derivative to get the slope, then using the graph of the other line given to you, find a point on the graph that they share and plug it in to find the y-value. then use the point slope formulahttp://docs.google.com/gview?a=v&q=cache:P72siWJTFjwJ:gato-docs.its.txstate.edu/slac/Subject/Math/Calculus/Findting-the-Equation-of-a-Tangent-Line/Finding%2520the%2520Equation%2520of%2520a%2520Tangent%2520Line.pdf+how+to+find+the+equation+of+a+tangent+line&hl=en&gl=us&sig=AFQjCNFcYzt1d-PU9hE2gbQKngp4FeRw3Q

Why is a graph more informative than an equation?

A graph is more informative than an equation because a graph is easier to interpret visually, and find all the points and line them up, rather than just a slope which shows no points(data).

How can you go between tables and graphs and equations?

from a table to a graph just graph x and y (on a coordinate plane) from table to equation find the slope of the line and the y intercept. your equation should be in the form y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

How do you find the slope intercept of a vertical line?

A vertical line on a graph has infinite slope and no y-intercept. Its equation is [ x = a number ]. The number is the line's x-intercept.

How do you find slope of line using graphs?

The slope of the line (on a linear equation) is rise over run. Meaning how far apart vertically (up and down) two points on the graph are, divided by how many units apart they are horizontally (left to right).

How do you find the slope with an equation?

You have to differentiate the equation. The dy/dx is the slope.

Find the slope of x equals -3?

The graph of the equation [ x = -3 ] is a straight vertical line, passingthrough the point [ x = -3 ] on the x-axis. Its slope is infinite.
