You cannot do this easily. First of all, sqrt(2) is an irrational number so it is a non-terminating, non-repeating decimal number and so you will not be able to find its true decimal value.

There is a method which is a bit like long division except that the divisor gets longer at each step. It is not easy to explain in words and the browser used here is rubbish.
