To solve for intercepts on a straight line graph put the equation in the form

y=mx+c where c is the y-intercept and you have the y intercept. Now to solve x-intercept set y=0

eg y=2x+5

0=2x+5

2x=-5

x=-2.5

For intercepts on other forms of graphs eg parabola

y-intercept= make x equal to 0 and solve

x-intercept= make y equal to 0 and solve

What is the slope and yintercept of y plus 4x plus 3?

There is no slope nor intercept because there is no equation, simply an expression.

What is a slope used for?

It shows the relationship of y in terms of x. [y = (yIntercept) + ((slope)*(x))] [slope = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)]

What is the xintercept for 5x - 4y equals 18?

To find the x-intercept for 5x - 4y = 18, plug in a 0 for the y value and solve for x. 5x - 4(0) = 18 5x = 18 x = 18/5 or 3.6 The line will hit the x-axis at (3.6,0)

What is the xintercept of y2x 5?

As written this is not a graphable thing. I does not represent a graphable equation because there is no "=" sign. Whatever the equation might be, the x intercept is found by setting y=0, which leaves you with an equation for x, which is the intercept.

How do you find a linear equation using x and y coordinants?

The point-slope form of a line is y - y1 = m (x - x1)If the coordinates you are given are something like (3,5) and (9,10), find the slope "m" by taking the difference in y over the difference in x, so (10-5)/(9-3) = 5/6Next, just plug in the values for one of the pointsy - y1 = m (x - x1)y - 5 = (5/6) (x - 3)y - 5 = 5/6x - 5/2y = 5/6x + 5/2
