where r is the radius, d the diameter (= 2r) and h the height.

Now, h = d so V = 0.25Ï€d3 = 1000cm3

So d3 = 4000/Ï€ = 1273.24 cm

then d = cube root of 1273.24 = 10.84 cm (to 2 dp).
