In order to find the perimeter the height, base and hypotenuse must be found first so let the height be (x+2.4) and the base be x:

1/2*height*base = area

1/2*(x+2.4)*x = 34.56

Multiply both sides by 2 and multiply out the brackets:

x2+2.4x = 69.12

Subtract 69.12 from both sides thus forming a quadratic equation:

x2+2.4x-69.12 = 0

Solving the above equation by means of the quadratic equation formula gives x a positive value of 7.2

Therefore: height = 9.6 cm and base = 7.2 cm

Use Pythagoras' theorem to find the hypotenuse:

9.62+7.22 = 144 and the square root of this is 12

Therefore: hypotenuse = 12 cm

Therefore: perimeter = 9.6+7.2+12 = 28.8 cm

Which triangle has the greater area triangle A has base 13 m and height 5 m and triangle B has base 9 m and height 8 m?

Triangle B The area of a triangle is the length of the base times the height divided by two. Triangle A has base 13 m and height 5 m so we have (13 * 5) / 2 = 32.5 square meters. Triangle B has base 9 m and height 8 m so we have (9 * 8) /2 = 36 square meters. Therefore Triangle B has the greater area.

A square has a perimeter that is 3 cm longer than the perimeter of an equilateral triangle the side of the triangle is 112 cm longer than that of the square?

Suppose the side of the square is x cm.Then its perimeter is 4x cm.The perimeter of the square is 3 cm more than that of the triangleso the perimeter of the triangle is 4x - 3 cm.Also, if the side of the square is x cm, the side of the triangle must be x + 112 cm.Then its perimeter must be 3*(x + 112) = 3x = 336 cm.Equating the two expressions for the perimeter of the triangle,4x - 3 = 3x + 336therefore x = 339 cm.The square has sides of 339 cm and a perimeter of 1356 cm.The triangle has sides of 451 cm and a perimeter of 1353 cm.
