You square root both the denominator and the numerator. If the denominator can not be square rooted without an integer resulting, then multiply both the numerator and denominator by the square root in the denominator and solve from there.

Example:

√1/2...First break it down: √1 and /√2

Now take the square root of 1: 1

You now have 1/√2

Multiply the top and bottom by √2: 1√2/2

Final value using integers: 1√2/2

Example:

√4/9...First break it down: √4 and √9

Now take the square root of 4: 2

Now take the square root of 9: 3

Final value: 2/3
