(x + 3)2 = (x + 2)2 + 13

ie x2 + 6x + 9 = x2 + 4x + 4 + 13

ie 6x + 9 = 4x + 17

Subtract 4x from each side: 2x + 9 = 17

Subtract 9 from each side: 2x = 8

Divide each side by 2: x = 4

Check: Does 72 = 62 + 13? Yes. Job done.
