You shouldn't have to get anyone to date you---they should truly want to be with you. It doesn't matter if outside observers think that you and this guy look like a couple. Be honest and tell him you would like to date him and ask if he agrees. Either he will agree or he will hedge and give various reasons why he can't date you now--which means he doesn't share your feelings. If he doesn't want to date you, you don't have to stop talking to him. But it will alter your friendship--you may feel resentment or hurt when he does date someone else. Do give yourself space from him for a time and meet other guys, so that you don't cling on to false hopes and miss out on meeting someone else who will want to be with you.
