It always hurts to lose a loved one. It can take months, years. If it takes weeks, they weren't really loved. I myself have recently lost my grandmother; she was my best friend. The anniversaries will be harder than any time of the year. Truth is, if it's been a year, it's not long at all. There's really no way to get over them. The grief can become better, but once in a while you'll still cry. You can try to get over them, but it probably won't work. I hope you're doing better.
Sincerely,
