You must loosen the nuts and bolts attaching them to the battery.
During ALL of the following steps, you may touch only the clamp that you're
working on, with your fingers or with a tool, but you may not let the tool touch
anything else at the same time.
-- Loosen the nut and bolt that pinch the end of the clamp opposite the cable.
-- Gently, carefully, and slightly, spread the mouth of the clamp that was held shut
by the nut and bolt.
-- At the same time, slightly rotate the clamp on the battery post.
-- When the clamp is able to rotate on the post, it can then be lifted off of the post.
-- Now do exactly the same with the other clamp and cable.
-- When both clamps have been removed from the posts, the battery can be removed.
