Divide the part that you want to analyze by the whole.
For example... if you're trying to find the percentage of green jellybeans as opposed to the whole jar and if there are three green jellybeans and three red jellybeans, the total amount of jellybeans is six. Divide the number of green jellybeans (3) by the total amount (3+3=6) which gives you 50%
