What is the difference between a pre-hung door and a slab door?

A 'slab' is simply the basic door portion with no holes or anything else. A Pre-hungwill come with all 3 jamb portions, hinges and a hole cut for a lock. He's right, but let me add a few details. Think of a "slab"door as a blank slate or a blank canvas. It has no frame (Jamb), may or may not have the lock-setbored out, and has no mortise, (notches in the door edge), for the hinges. A "slab" door however may come in various styles, such as a blank or flat slab, or may have a pattern such as Colonial etc.A pre-hungdoor is one that is hung on a door jamb. It can consist of a slab door with no detail or Colonial or similar styling. The door is "pre-hung,"on the door jamb with hinges and is bored out for the lock-set.Both slab and pre-hungdoors, can come pre-primedor unfinished.

How much do internal doors cost to install?

No way..! Looking at a price competent for N.Y. / Los Angeles Areas, a charge for a skilled labor to install a door should average around $75 an hour; and to hang a new door (average measurements being 32" x 80") with #2-hinges, doorknob and strike plate needing to be drilled/chiseled out should take less than 2-hours. Most skilled labor (and I do mean someone with experience and proper tools) will charge between $150 - $250 per door with the higher end figuring in the need to sand and plane some of the sides of the door to fit since most existing door jams are not square. Note: It is usually a faster and potentially a cheaper outcome to install a pre-hung door that can be purchased with the door already set within a door jam and (usually) fabricated with a doorknob and strike plate holes already cut... The installation time is quicker for a pre-hung door by 30 minutes (with a rough installation time being 1 1/2 hours) and there being an add-cost of casement moldings for both sides of the door frame with the installation time already figured into the estimate. If the door jam is not square, and more time is needed to shape the door to fit, an add-cost should be figured into the labor time.

Why does people put reefs on their door at Christmas?

WREATHS are hung on doors around Christmas for decoration. WREATHS are a hold over from the 'green' displayed by pre Christians when they celebrated the winter equinox. A sign of renewed life.

How do you install bi-fold door?

pretty simple actually. Start by putting a level in the wall and draw a level line from the header to the floor. Screw the track to the header with the center of the track on the line you marked. Screw the bottom bracket to the floor and wall with the center on the line. install the top pin and bottom pin in the pre drilled holes in the side of the door you want to the wall. The side that will pivot. Put the roller wheel in the top of the other door. Install the door. Adjust for level and smooth operation. Good Luck. Alex DenverInteriorDoors.com
