Only insofar as the web browser is concerned. SharePoint 2010 or Foundation for example needs IE 7 and above. IE 6 is not supported. Chrome and Firefox latest version will be fine but avoid Safari or iPads without thorough testing. If you use an old version of Office (pre-2007) a significant number of functional areas won't be available to you on the collaboration side, but there are work-arounds for this. The main thing is the browser.
