Reduce the numerator and denominator by their LCD

In this case 18/4

Can 2 go into both? Yes.

Can 3 go into both? No.

Can 4 go into both? No.

Okay, so 2 is the number that can go into both, right?

So, divide both numbers by 2 (that slash in the middle of a fraction is a 'divided by' sign) and you get:

18/2 = 9

4/2 = 2

so you get 9/2 or 9 halves. So what is nine halves? Four "wholes" and one "half."

So how do you write that? Four wholes and one half?

Heh--not going to give you the ACTUAL answer, guy. I'm hoping that you can figure it out from here. :)
