Basic stats: batting average-- percentage of the time the player gets a hit, ex. .321 on-base percentage-- percentage of time the player gets on base, ex. .379 slugging percentage-- measures player's power, ex. .455 runs- runs scored, ex. 83 runs batted in (RBI)-- number of runs the player pushed across with a hit, walk, etc, ex. 76 walks-- number of time the player gets a free pass to first base
