To remove a crown moulding light cover from a fluorescent ceiling light fixture, follow these steps:

  • Locate the clips or latches that hold the cover in place. These are usually located on the back or sides of the cover, and may be hidden by the crown moulding.

  • Gently press the clips or latches to release them from the ceiling light fixture. Be careful not to break or damage the clips or latches.

  • Carefully lift the cover away from the ceiling light fixture, being careful not to damage the cover or the light fixture.

  • If the cover is difficult to remove or if it seems like it is stuck, try gently wiggling it back and forth or using a flat tool to gently pry it loose.

  • Once the cover is removed, you should be able to access the light bulbs and other components of the light fixture.

  • To replace the cover, simply reverse the steps, making sure that the clips or latches are securely fastened before turning the light back on.

Most fluorescent lights have plastic clips on either side that will allow you to remove the plastic cover without much effort. Simply push these little clips in and push down until the cover comes off.

The trim should just pull down. Because it is a recessed fixture nothing is screwed in it is all friction fit. Most trim kits have two spring wires that hold the trim to the ceiling. Once the trim is pulled down just release the springs on both sides of the trim to remove it completely from the fixture.

Can you convert an existing flush mount ceiling light into a recessed light?

Sure. Get a recessed light that is designed to be installed in "old Work". You must hav eenough room in ceiling to contain the recessed light. There may be some issues in some locations where the recessed fixture may overheat if for instance there is insulation around the fixture. Light should have an over temp cutoff. There should be a template with recessed light and a built in box to wire in the power from the old light. If you carefully cut out the sheetrock in ceiling according to the template dimensions, you will be able to use the piece you remove to repair the hole should there be no room for the recessed light. If there is attic access where the new light will be installed, you may be able to use a "new Work" light fixture since you can mount it from above. Go to someplace like Home Depot or Lowes and see what they have available.

How do you remove the ceiling on a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder?

Take care with many of the steps, it's definitely possible to break something in this process. Therefore you should only remove the ceiling if you have to. You'll need a decently sized screwdriver, a small knife (for prying), and a set of good hands. This is a strenuous, but relatively easy process that can take anywhere from an hour to two hours to complete. The first step is to remove the light fixture by the rearview mirror. This is held in by two large metal clasps, so it'll take a little effort. With persistence, it'll pop out, exposing the rearview mirror's attatchment piece. Unclasp the wiring of the light fixture and go ahead and remove the rearview mirror as well. Keep track of the screws. Keep track of all pieces you remove for that matter. Next, remove the plastic cover of the overhead light fixture. This pops out easily, expposing two mounting screws. Remove these, pop out the fixture, and unhook the wiring harness. Now, remove all handholds from the ceiling and walls. Take a knife or similar object and use it to pop out the plastic covers concealing the handholds' mounting screws. Remove these and take careful note of where the screws belong, and which handhold goes where. Next, use a screwdriver to remove the sunvisors and the plastic clasps that hold them up. Here comes the tough/slightly painful part. The plastic, grey trim pieces that go around the ceiling need to come off. All of these are held in with small metal clasps. It will take some effort to remove them. Using your fingers, pry them off, bit by bit, starting with the piece by the driver's head. Once the trim pieces are removed, the faux-leather covered plastic pieces in the middle of the ceiling need to be removed. The assembely comes apart in 3 pieces: the one in the middle that housed the overhead light fixture, and the two on the sides. All three are held in with plastic and metal clasps. Carefully pry these off, starting with the one in the middle. Be carefull not to tear any leather. At this point, the two seperate, cardboard ceiling pieces should be exposed. They are held up with a few plastic tabs. Using one hand to hold the piece up, remove the plastic tabs. The ceiling piece(s) are now free to come out. Carefully pull these off of the ceiling. Parts of the piece may still be help up by the cloth seam that surrounds the windows. The ceiling pieces should now be removed.
