How do you round off mixed fraction to a whole numbers?

If the fractional part is less than a half then you truncate the number to the given whole number, if the fractional part is greater than a half then you round up to the next integer. If the fractional part is a half you should round up or down to an even integer in order to avoid bias (IEEE standard 754). However, most schools [wrongly] teach you to round up if the fractional part is exactly one half.
