-5x+24=4
you would first subtract 24 from both sides:
-5x+24-24=4-24
which would come out to -5x=20
(this is because 24-24 is 0 leaving just the -5x on the left. then 4-24 would be 20, so leaving the 20 on the right.)
then you would divide 5 into -5x and the same to the other side so you equation would look like this
5x/-5=-20/5
the positive 5 would cancel out the -5 and -20 and positive 5 would equal to -4 because a positive and negative equal a negative
so your answer would look like this:
