Lets start by classifying the number system

begins with

1)Natural Numbers- counting numbers: 1,2,3,4,5...

2)Whole Numbers- zero and counting numbers: 0,1,2,3,4,5...

3)Integers-include natural numbers, zero, and naturals opposites: ...-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3...

4)Rational Numbers are any numbers that can be made into a ratio of two numbers like 3/4 or 1:2 Any number that can be made by dividing one integer by another.

Notice the pattern, where natural numbers are a part of whole numbers, whole numbers and natural numbers are a part of integers, and can even manipulate all these to be a part of rational numbers.

There are two more catagories: Irrational Numbers and Real Numbers

Irrational Numbers - A number that cannot be expressed as a ratio between two integers and is not an imaginary number. If written in decimal notation, an irrational number would have an infinite number of digits to the right of the decimal point, without repetition. Pi and the square root of 2 are irrational numbers.

And every number in everyone of these classifications falls under real numbers.

Now 6.1 from 3.45 becomes and integer of (-2.65)
