How do you turn off a TI-84 plus silver edition calculator?

With most of the TI calculators, you have to press the "2nd" button (usually in the top left corner, by the screen) and then the "ON/CLEAR" button (usually in the top right corner, by the screen).

To turn off a Ti 83, 84 (including silver), or 89, follow these steps:

• Press [2nd]
• Press [ON]

If you look closely, you can see small font above the on button, usually blue. This font refers to the function associated with the [2nd] button.

Alternatively, you can just let your calculate sit, without pressing any buttons, for 3 - 5 minutes and it should turn off automatically.

Quick fact: A calculator that turns off (either manually or automatically) will turn back on to the scree that it turned off on (with very few exceptions.)
