The short answer is: you can't. The long answer is: just like using a flashlight bulb that has a voltage that is half the voltage of the battery, it will not work. It will take too much current, causing it to burn out and be useless.

∙ 13y agoHomes in the US and Canada - and other countries which use the same standard electricity supply service - get 240 volts at 60 Hz at the panel. If you don't yet have a a 240 volt socket outlet in the right place for your new appliance then you will need to get one installed.
