First, you divide the denoninator into the numerator. After you divide that, you have the answer: start from the quotient. Then the remainder. And lastly, the divisor.

Example:

2 3/5:

= [(5 * 2)+3]/5

= [10+3]/5

= 13/5 in improper fraction
