Answer 1A light bulb works by changing electrical energy provided to it into thermal energy, or heat. The filament in an incandescent lamp is heated to such a high temperature that it gives off a portion of the energy in visible light by the mechanism of incandescence.

Answer 2 More Explanation

There is a single filament of thin wire of Tungsten used in incandescent bulbs, so when it's heated by electrical current the air molecules around the filament warm. Electrons are excited to a higher orbit and they return to their original position via the emission of photons. The light emitted is what we call incandescence.
