When done correctly, conversion of units will have no effect on the level of accuracy of a particular measurement. However, there are times when the converted measure is rounded to a whole or half unit in the new system of measure, and in those cases the accuracy of the measurement is reduces.

The accuracy of measurement does not depend on the system. A length can be measured in inches or thousandths of inches or millionths of inches. Similarly, it can be measured in metres or millimetres (thousandths) or micrometres (millionths) etc. Having names for these smaller measurement units does not affect the accuracy in any way whatsoever.

There is nothing inherent to a system of units that causes measurements expressed in it to be

any more or less accurate than measurements expressed in any other system.

If there were, then all less-accurate systems would have been discarded long ago, and the

people, business, and technology of the world would all be using the same, more-accurate

system.

Any measurement can be expressed in any system of units, and can be converted from one system

to another long after the measurement is made. If its accuracy is affected by the conversion, then

the cause lies with the the process and factors used to convert.

What is the difference between accuracy and presicion?

Accuracy is a measure of how close to an absolute standard a measurement is made, while precision is a measure of the resolution of the measurement. Accuracy is calibration, and inaccuracy is systematic error. Precision, again, is resolution, and is a source of random error.
