Gravity pulls "down" on stuff. Gravity imparts weight to a mass because it is pulling on it. Pulling it down. With that in mind, let's lower something - someone - into water. As the person begins to enter the water, the water is displaced. It's pushed aside for the person to enter it because as a liquid, it will not support the person, cannot prevent the person from going in. But it does push back. A lot. The more the person is lowered in, the more water is displaced and the more the water pushes back. When the lowering apparatus is released after the person is all the way in the water (with the person floating), the person will have his weight supported by the water. The person "loses weight" because the water pushes back on anything put in it. The person won't feel very much of his weight, though his mass hasn't changed. Technically, the volume of water that a floating object displaces will be equal in mass to the total mass of the object put in the water. And the water pushes back on an object immersed in proportion to the force exerted by gravity on the volume of water that the object displaces. The object does not lose any mass. For objects that float, these objects are said to have buoyancy.

Does an objects weight change in the water?

No. Weight = mass * g, where g = 9.8 m/s2, a constant. The mass of an object does not change unless it undergoes a chemical or nuclear change. Hence its weight is a constant too. However, the "apparent weight" changes because the inherent weight is now compensated somewhat by buoyancy, acting in the opposite direction as gravity. The weight of a piece of wood in water will be completely opposed by the buoyancy and so it floats. The weight of a concrete block cannot be completely compensated by buoyancy and so it sinks. ========================

What is the change of a water molecule?

The mass of water will change because when anything become in the solid form so its weight would be increased . For example when we put some water in it so its weight is less but after freezing its weight become increased because it change in to solid form

Which property of water allows insects to walk on water?

Certain insects (ones with a very light weight) are able to walk on water as their weight does not break the surface tension of the water. Water has a very high surface tension, therefore easily breaking and not supporting weight above a certain limit.

If you poor out some of the water in a bucket does the remaining density of the water change?

No, pouring out some water from a bucket does not change the density of the water remaining in the bucket. Density is a physical property of a substance that remains constant regardless of the amount of that substance present.
