You would need to know how many of each animal, and then use that to figure how much food to prepare for each animal. You'd need to count all the animals, to make sure all were accounted for and none were missing. Also, you'd need to use math for deciding when to set-up schedules for breeding the animals. Math is used in all everyday life, not just in zoos, but they are a good example.
