2 is not an exception to the other prime numbers. It is prime, just like 3, 5, 7, 11, etc. because it meets the definition of primeness, i.e. to have no factors other than 1 and itself. It happens to be even, and is the only Prime number that is even, but that still does not make it an exception to the other prime numbers.
