A whole number represents complete objects. Like pies. 1 pie, 2 pies, etc
A decimal is the equivalent of a fraction or a part of a complete object. 0.5 pie means 5/10 which reduces to 1/2 pie ... half of a pie.
This extends to the abstract where the complete object is just the number 1.
This number can be represented by a number line. Divide the number line into 10 equal parts... each part then represents 1/10th or 0.1. 3 of these parts will represent 3/10 or 0.3.
Divide the line into 100 parts. Each part represents 1/100th or 0.01 and 3 parts will represent 3/100 or 0.03 etc...
Dividing by decimal is different from dividing by whole number as you have to multiply by a number to remove the decimal.
a number with a decimal point is a a fraction, a part of the whole goes behind the decimal. where as one with out a decimal point is just a whole number.
The difference is that all whole numbers are decimal numbers, but not all decimal numbers are whole numbers. For example a whole number such as 1 is a decimal number but a decimal number such as 1.5 is not a whole number.
they aren't that different but the whole number needs to be converted for them to be the same
No. A whole number is a number with no fractional (decimal) part. Therefore a decimal number can not be a whole number. Another view: 35.0 is a whole number AND a decimal. The fact that a number is a decimal does not automatically require it to have a fractional part. Even 35 is a decimal number (without a decimal point).
You can't change a whole number to a decimal. A decimal and a whole number are both numbers. A decimal is just a number lower than a whole number, or a number in between two whole numbers.
The answer depends on what the decimal is: the processes for 9999.02 and 0.02 are very different.
The whole number goes to the left of the decimal point. The whole number goes to the left of the decimal point. The whole number goes to the left of the decimal point. The whole number goes to the left of the decimal point.
A decimal number is not always smaller than a whole number. This is a decimal number 2.45 The number on the left of the decimal point shows the whole numbers. The numbers on the right of the point shows the parts/fractions. This number is not a whole number .098 This number is a whole number 2.00 This number has whole numbers and parts/fractions of the whole 2.098
15,000 is already a whole number. A whole number is any number that is not a fraction or decimal. 15,00.96 would not be a whole number, but a decimal.
If you divide a number times 48 and it equals to a whole number then that is the answer! But if it has a decimal as the answer then you have to use a different number
A whole number is a number that is not a decimal or fraction. Since 0.02687 is a decimal, it cannot be converted into a whole number.
