Your light has a dimmer switch on and the light wont work?

Dimmer switches go bad, more often than regular switches.

What will happen if the two switches connected to light up a single bulb are on?

It is dependant on whether the switches are in wired in a parallel or series configuration. If the switches are wires in parallel then both switches would have to be off to turn the light bulb off. Either switch could turn the light bulb on. If the switches are wired in series then both switches would have to be on to turn the light bulb on. Either switch could turn the light bulb off.

Does a double-pole switch control lights from two locations?

No. A double pole switch would be a switch that switches 2 different loads simultaneously. 3-way switches (and 4-way switches if more than 2 are used) are what are used for controlling a light from multiple locations. While a typical single pole switch simply opens or closes a single contact, a 3-way switch provides a path from a contact point to, let's say, point A or point B. Points A and B from the first 3-way switch are connected to points A and B of the second 3-way switch and then the common contact point of the second switch is connected to your light. When more than 2 switches are desired, you can use any number of 4-way switches between the 3-way switches, but the 3-way switches MUST be on the ends of the circuit.

Are light switches required on all lights or are pull strings allowed?

Why does bathroom light go off when you turn on bedroom light?

That's one I've never seen. Does the bathroom light turn ON when the bedroom light is switched Off? Does the bathroom light switch turn the bathroom light on and off normally when the bedroom light switch is left on? Need to answer these questions, then find where the bathroom light power comes from. It's power supply should either go directly from the power oanel to the bathroom light or to the bathroom light switch. The bathroom light switch merely acts as an interrupter for the hot leg of this power supply.

Why do bathroom light switches have cords hanging from them?

It's easier to handle.

Why do bathrooms have pull strings or switches outside?

To make it easier to use. I prefer a light switch on the outside of the bathroom because it makes it easier to find especially if I am in a hurry.

Why do bathroom light switches usually have a cord hanging from them?

I have never seen a bathroom light switch with a cord hanging from it and I've seen a lot of bathrooms. But if i had to guess. I'd probably say to turn them off. Electricity is conducted very easily through water. So if you let water run from your wet hands into a light switch in a bathroom there is a chance you could get a shock, even get killed. So some bathrooms have the switch on the roof with a long string to turn it on and off. So there is no chance of water getting to the switch.

How do you make a 2 way switch which breaks the circuit only when both the switches are turned off?

Send power to the 1st switch and then send the power from that switch when it is in the on position to the second switch. Then send power to the light from the second switch. That way both switches will have to be in the on position for the light to be on.

What is the purpose of switches?

the switch is to control the light if this is turn on or turn off

How many conditions or states can a light switch be in?
