its based on 10 and 10 is easier to divide than 12 or 144
Beneficial is maybe the wrong word. Neither system is better for you, but the metric system is better. I've grown up in Britain, where we are officially metric but the Imperial system is a long time dieing. I've had to use both systems all my life, and metric is far easier to use, understand and calculate with. The metric system uses base 10 for everything; that is it counts in tens, we do this in all maths. we use the numbers 0 to 9 for all our normal counting. The Imperial system doesn't use the number ten as it's base; but three, twelve, fourteen, eight, twenty, and a whole host of others, making it's calculations very complicated. From experience, metric is easier all round. I think that makes it better, but not more beneficial.
