The light assy has to be removed. Some of the screws are hidden pretty good and you just have to find them. There are two screws, and they are located on the uprights, inboard of the light assembly. They are accessible through two holes adjacent to the light. Remove the screws, and the light assembly pivots outward, thereby releasing two hinge clips on the outboard side of the light.
They are held in with 2 X 10mm bolt's accessible from the air gap inboard of the light. Once those are undone the light assembly just comes forward on a slight angle to realise a clip on the outboard. DO NOT pull the light to far as the cable for the bulb is still attached that just unclips or you can just twist the whole bulb out. Hope this helps.

Depends upon what year the vehicle is. They all have a series of screws holding the lens/assembly in. 1982 and prior (K5 Blazer) are visible from the vehicle's exterior. 1982 through 2004 (S-10 style) have a series of screws on the inboard side of the assembly.
On the inboard lights, take off the licence plate and stick your arm, if it is small enough, up and to the port or starboard side. rotate the housing counter clockwise, pull it out, and remove and replace the light. On the outboard lights, stick your arm up between the muffler and the rear quarter panel on either side and use the same procedure as on the inboard lights. This is the proper way, but after breaking one out board light, mashing the rest of the bulb, and blowing a fuse, I let my mechanic do it. He also has smaller arms and can get in easier.
1) Open the hood. On top of the headlight assembly are two L-shaped metal pins (they look like Allen wrenches) about 5 inches long. Unhook then and pull them straight up. This will allow you to remove the upper headlight assembly. 2) There is a plastic clip on the outboard end of the lower light assembly. Push the plastic clip outward will detach the lower light assembly, and you can pull the assembly straight out. 3) Untwist the light blub bracket counterclockwise. 4) Pull the bulb out, and replace it with a new one. 5) Reverse the process to install.
Place small flat blade screwdriver in the notch at the outboard edge of the light assembly. Insert at an angle, blade out handle inward, to release integral clip. Once inserted push slightly upward to engage internal clip. Then, reverse direction of screwdriver, handle outward, to removed light assembly from underneath outside mirror. Quarter twist bulb/connector from assembly. Replace bulb and reinsert socket into assembly. Reinstall into underside of mirror, inside edge first. Pivot assembly upward and snap into place flush with bottom of mirror.
Open up the tailgate/hatch. Look at the inboard sides of the taillightsThere are two black Phillips-head screws along the body seam, holding the assembly in. Simply remove those screws and pull the assembly straight out. If there are tailgate struts blocking the screws, you'll need to move them aside.
This can be done in 60 seconds (without tools) if you know what you're doing. Here's how to do it: 1) Open the hood. On top of the headlight assembly are two L-shaped metal pins (they look like Allen wrenches) about 5 inches long. Unhook then and pull them straight up. This will allow you to remove the upper headlight assembly.2) There is a plastic clip on the outboard end of the lower light assembly. Push the plastic clip outward will detach the lower light assembly, and you can pull the assembly straight out.3) Untwist the light blub bracket counterclockwise.4) Pull the bulb out, and replace it with a new one.5) Reverse the process to install.
Open the hood, remove the rubber cover for the high beam bulb (inboard bulb, closer to the radiator), remove high beam bulb and next to it inside the light assembly is the position light bulb. Using a pair of long and 45degree needle nose pliers gently grab the position light bulb socket and pull it straight out! Do not pull on wires and I had to remove my air filter box cover to get my big hands behind the light assembly! Bulb is a W5W, buy it before starting this job!
