Each year in the United States, roughly 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking. This includes about 1,900 deaths from motor vehicle accidents. Tobacco kills more Americans each year than alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroin, homicide, suicide, car accidents, fire, and AIDS combined. No known deaths are attributed to Marijuana use.
Alcohol as a medicinal substance, very few if any.
Alcohol in beverages, substantially more, although this extends the use of "kids" to mean teenagers who are minors. Alcohol abuse causes thousands of teenage deaths each year in the US, especially as a contributory cause to vehicular deaths.
One teen death and one family having their collective hearts broken by the unthinkable tragedy of a precious and young human being that they love so much... having their life and all the potential and good that they could do in this world cut short... is too many.
Please for the love of life and for your self and family. If you are a teen asking this, wait until you are of age. even then be careful.. dont be proud.. call a cab.. and dont binge drink. I know of a car wreck that happened not far from where i lived just a few months back; carload of drunk teens were speeding down the road toward an intersection with a red light. An eighteen wheeler pulling an empty flatbed trailer was crossing the intersection on a green light. the teen driver didnt notice the truck or the red light.. and the driver ran the car directly into the flatbed instantly cutting the top off of the car and decapitating all 4 teens inside. The depth of sadness that their families suffered must be unfathomable.
