The UK highway code uses the formula:
distance = thinking_distance + braking_distance
= speed + speed2 ÷ 20
with speed in mph and distance in feet. This is for a normal, unaffected, person in a vehicle with good brakes and tyres, and dry conditions.
So for 55 mph, the stopping distance would be:
distance = 55 + 552 ÷ 20
= 55 + 151.25
= 206.25 ft
≈ 63m
If the driver has different than "normal" reaction times and the road is slippery (due to rain, snow, dust(!), etc), then the stopping distance will vary, usually longer, the Highway Code suggesting allow double at least.
However, as far as I know the Highway Code has not been updated for the vast improvements in braking, etc since it was first published; also, the same stopping distances are considered for a (less than) 1 tonne family car and fully laden 23 tonne coach.
Fun fact: the stopping distance (given above) for 70 mph (the legal limit for a car on the UK motorways) is 315 ft or 96m; this can easily be visualised as the marker posts to the nearest emergency phone are 100m apart - approximately the stopping distance in an emergency!
60 miles per hour = 316800 feet per hour.
633600 feet per hour
1 mile per hour = 22/15 = 1.4666... feet per second (rounded, repeating)The following are exact numbers:-- 15 miles per hour = 22 feet per second-- 30 miles per hour = 44 feet per second-- 60 miles per hour = 88 feet per second-- 90 miles per hour = 132 feet per second-- 120 miles per hour = 176 feet per second
If you drive for an hour, you have driven 45 miles. If you have driven for a longer or shorter time, you have driven more or less, respectively. You have to specify the amount of time to get the answer.
80mph = 80 miles/hour If you drive for one hour at 80 miles/hour, you will travel 80 miles.
A scalar is a magnitude only (...I am driving at 60 miles per hour), while a vector is a magnitude and direction (...I am driving at 60 miles per hour, heading east).
The shortest route is 94.4 miles which is an hour and 46 miles minutes while driving.
80.67 feet every second at 55mph
60 miles
Miles per Hour- MPH Feet per second- FPS Kilometers per hour- KPH Feet per hour- FPH
One hour.
That depends on the speed at which you are driving. For example, if you are driving 52.6 miles/hour, it would take an hour to drive that far. If you are driving 23.8 miles/hour, it would take two hours to drive that far.
1,000 feet per minute is about 11.363 miles per hour.
30,000 feet per hour = 5.68 miles per hour.
feet per hour x 0.0001894 = miles per hour
6 hours 20 minutes.
A car driving 50 miles per hour travels 264,000 feet in one hour or 4,400 feet per minute or 73.3 feet per second. 50 x 5,280 feet (per mile)= 264,000 divided by 60 = 4,400 divided by 60 = 73.3
