We need some more information here. Are we talking about an Aquarium? What is the third dimension (eg: front to back)?

For an Aquarium that is 48" tall, by 144" wide, by 18" deep -- the huge sort you might see in the lobby of a hotel or something --

About 540 gallons, which would weigh about 4300 lbs, not including the weight of the tank itself (about 400 lbs, conservatively) or the gravel, rocks, fish, etc, which might bring it up to as much as 6000 lbs, or 3 tons.

OR, for a swimming pool or deep pond, 48" deep by 144" in diameter --

pi x r2 x d = volume in cubic feet

3.14 x 36 x 4 = 452.4

to convert cubic feet to gallons, multiply by 7.48051945 = 3384 gallons
