The Sun does not have a shadow, objects have shadows cast by the Sun. During a solar eclipse the shadow of the moon travels at varying speeds during different portions of the eclipse (at the beginning and end when the shadow of the moon just has touched the Earth or is about to drop off into space the shadow moves much faster than in the middle near maximum eclipse).

The 'Terminator' (the line dividing the illuminated part of the Earth from the part in shadow) travels at 0,25° per minute across the globe.
