What use are empty smartie tubes?
I made people with mine! I know this sounds odd but it's fun!you will need .An empty smartie tube .1 piece of A4 paper .crayons+pencil .30cm ruler .scissors .Glue .sellotape (optional) Firstly, take ALL the tabs off the smartie tube (eg: the opening flap) so you are left with a plain hexagon tube. Then, line it up with the bottom of your paper and put a mark with your ruler where the smartie tube top is on the paper. About and inch above that, make another line with your ruler that goes across the whole width of the page. Taking your scissors, cut along that line carefully. Next, with your glue, put the smartie tube on your finger and put glue everywhere on the outside of it. Then with your cut piece of paper, line the tube up with the edge of the paper and roll the paper around it. KEEP HOLD OF THE EDGE OF THE PAPER WHEN IT IS ROLLED AROUND THE TUBE!!!! If you are using sellotape, pull off a strip and put it over the edge. If using glue, put a bit of glue on the inside of the edge of the paper and stick it down to the rest of the tube. At the top, take your scissors and cut the top paper ring into flaps. Once done, fold them back and put glue on the top of the smartie tube. Fold each flap into the glue repeatedly. Apply more glue if needed. Once done, put some more glue on the top and spread it round and leave it to dry. The extra glue allows the top of the puppet to stay firm. You now have a blank puppet! you can color it in and give it a face with your pencil or colors and cut out hair and arms to stick onto it. I made the potter puppet pals by doing this many times to 8 smartie tubes. I adore them, and my friends are crazy about them. Hope this summary helps for people who like making things! =D
