Using the ruler on Google.earth I got 5427 miles from the center of London to the center of San Jose, Costa Rica. The ruler takes the straightest path on a circle (the globe) and I am assuming that is the path the airlines would take.
The square mile of the "city" is regarded as the Centre of London. Spiritually St Paul's would be regarded as the centre. Houses of Parliament and lords in Westminster, London would be the political centre. Distances are measured using Chairing Cross as the origin of the Centre of London.
48,434 sq mi. P.S. what physics got to do with it?

Dover to London is only 70 miles and Dover hasn't got an airport. Take a train, it's much easier.

125 square miles. Divide 80,000 by 640. Therefore, if 80,000 acres of trees are harvested daily, how square many miles of trees would be harvested in one year? Sounds a little off by my math. In other words, we would not have any trees left at least 15 years ago! Got ya thinkin'..........
6*4 = 24 square metres.
