1 yard = 3 ft (1 yd x 1 yd) = 1 square yard = (3 ft x 3 ft) = 9 square ft 14 ft x 14 ft = 196 square ft 196 sq ft = (196 / 9) = 21 and 7/9 = 21.777 square yards (repeating) ===================================== That's the pure math answer. It's only good if you can cut your material into pieces and spread the pieces around to fill in the 14 x 14 area. If your material comes in a strip that's 1 yard wide, you buy it in yard lengths, and you want to do a minimum of cutting, then: -- You need 5 strips to cover the width of the room (5 yards = 15 ft), and you'll have to cut 1 foot off the width of one strip. -- Each strip has to be 5 yards long to cover the length of the room (5 yards = 15 ft), and you'll have to cut the last 1 foot off the length of each strip. -- For this plan, you have to buy 5 x 5 = 25 square yards, and do come cutting. But the carpet comes out looking beautiful. The 'joins' between adjacent strips are all parallel and evenly spaced across the room, they run the whole length of the room, and all the edges you cut are against the walls. I don't know what an experienced carpet man would think of this, but hey, I'm only an engineer.
You need 166.66 square yards of carpet.
28 square feet = 3.1 square yards of material.
630 square feet = 70 square yards.
You will need 7.1 square yards of fabric.
12 feet X 13 feet = 156 square feet 156 / 9 = 17.333 square yards
1,440 square feet or 160 square yards.
You need 166.66 square yards of carpet.
28 square feet = 3.1 square yards of material.
You will need 3.5 square yards of material to cover 32 square feet.
A yard is 3 feet by 3 feet in carpet terms, or 9 square feet; for 100 square feet you need 100/9 = about 11 yards
630 square feet = 70 square yards.
You will need 7.1 square yards of fabric.
12 feet X 13 feet = 156 square feet 156 / 9 = 17.333 square yards
For 576 square feet at a depth of 4 inches, you will need 7.11 cubic yards.
Broken down as follows: 30 feet = 10 yards 36 feet = 12 yards 10 x 12 = 120 square yards
10 feet by 12 feet = 120 square feet 9 square feet = 1 square yard 120 square feet / 9 square feet/square yard ~= 13.33 square yards
720 square feet at the standard 4-inch depth requires 8.9 cubic yards.
