24 times because each time a new hour comes it overlaps the big hand and there is 24 hours in each day. Hey did you know I am only in grade 5 !
----------------------------------------------
Improved: NO! that is so not true because the big hand and small hand don't only overlap at hourly intervals ... let's say it's exactly 3:15 ... the big hand and small hand will be on the 15.
I'm not exactly sure about the math that goes into this..
but that's the concept behind the question.

Edit: The first contributor obviously didn't read the question properly ! Starting at Noon - Both hands are on 12. the next time the minute hand will pass over the hour hand - is approximately 1:05, then 2:10, 3:15.. ..10:50, 11:55, finally 00:00 - making 13 times in total !
It's 10 times, not eleven, check on your watch.
There is no such time as '3000'. The 24 hour clock has a maximum time of 2359. ( One minute to midnight). 2400/0000 (midnight) is not used because of possible confusion over the day/date. The 24 hour clock times are from '0001' to '2359' . This includes '1215'.
Eight times in a day the hands of a clock form straight angle. At first they form straight angle when the hour amd minute hand are on 3 and 9 in noon and night. Second, when the hour amd minute hand are on 9 and 3 in morning and night. Third when the hour amd minute hand are on 12 and 6 At last when the hour amd minute hand are on 6 and 12.
Each minute on the clock is 1/60 of the 360 degree circle or 6 degrees. There are 20 minute lines between 12 and 4 therefore, 20 times 6 is 120 degrees.
The hands of the clock will form a straight line 12 times.

360 times
Simply to avoid confusion between am and pm. Times are written from 00:00 (midnight) to 23:59 (one minute before midnight.

Times denoted with pm occur between 12 noon and midnight. 5.35pm is thus 5.35 + 12 = 17.35 using the 24hr clock.

The hands of the clock will form a straight line 12 times.
if the clock on has 2 hands : hands would change 1440 timesif you use the second hand; it would move a total of 44640 times
