A short ton is equal to 2000 pounds; a long tonne is equal to 2200 pounds. This means there are 2200/2000 = 1.1 tons in a tonne.
There are 2204 pounds in a metric ton. There is one ton in a metric ton. Some books use the convention that a ton is 2,000 pounds (US) and a 'tonne' or 'metric ton' is 1000 kg or 2204 pounds. The question 'how many tons are in a metric ton' is ambiguous. The answer could be 1.1 (if we assume the first unit is a US ton) or 1 exactly if we assume the first unit is a metric ton.
I'm pretty sure 1=1
a tonne is a metric tonne equal to 1000Kg or 2204.6lbs
We have three different tons: Long ton, in the United Kingdom Imperial system is 2,240 pounds, exactly 1,016.0469088 kg. Short ton, in North America is 2,000 pounds or 907.18474 kg.

Metric ton, often spelled 'tonne', is 1,000 kg or approximately 2,204.6 pounds.
A tonne and a metric tonne are the same thing.

A tonne is a unit of mass. 1 tonne = 1000 Kg.
There is 1.10 short tons in one Metric ton. A Metric tonne is 1000 kilos which equals 2200 pounds. That's the same as one long ton.
1 metric tonne= 0.984206527611061 long ton (UK)= 1.10231131092439 short ton
