-- The measuring takes place inside the pump. It's calculated from the turns of the

pump motor, so anything in the line has already been measured before you begin.

-- There should be no air in the line. When the previous customer finishes his delivery,

the hose is still full of fuel when the valve at the end of the nozzle closes. That bit

in the hose has already been counted previously, so if you want to be technical, you

get it for free. But you can't actually get it unless you run more gas through the pump

to push it out with, and then when you're finished, your cost includes that same amount

of liquid that stays in the hose for the next customer.

So I'd say that you get the amount of gasoline molecules you pay for, but they're not all

exactly the same molecules that got tallied up to determine the cost to you.

Why is there 3 digits after the decimal for a gallon of gas?

Price of a gallon is $2.009. the third digit after the decimal is for 9/10 of a gallon. You are not paying for a gallon of gas. You are paying for 9/10 a gallon of gas. Sometimes you will see 9/10 after the cost of gas.

How much would it cost to drive 6000 miles in a car that gets 42 miles per gallon?

Depends on what you are paying per gallon for fuel. 6,000 divided by 42 equals 142.85. So you know you will use at least 143 gallons of fuel. Assuming you will pay on average $3.60 for fuel it will cost you, 143 x $3.60 = $514.80.

You are driving 125 miles a day to collect 1500 lbs of food paying the driver 14 per hour and gas is 3 per gallon truck gets 16 miles per gallon what is the formula?

125 miles a day divided by 16 miles per gallon = 7.8125 Gallons used per day = 7.8125 X 3$ = 23.4375$ per day to collect 1500lbs of food. If the speed of the truck was specified i could of told you how many hours it took to collect 1500lbs of food and how much the driver made in one day.

Can your credit be damaged by paying less than what is due on time?

Absolutely. It won't be hurt as badly as not paying, but your credit report usually shows a status that reads "pays as agreed." If you're paying less than the minimum amount due each month, you're not paying as agreed and your credit can get dinged.

If I pay 20 for 1 gallon of shampoo that dilutes 32-1 what am I paying per gallon Same question for a shampoo that dilutes 50 to 1 and costs 49.40 per gallon?

If you pay 20 for 1 gallon, then you are paying 20 for one gallon. Similarly if you are paying 49.40 for 1 gallon, then you are paying 49.40 for one gallon. --------------------------------------------------- If, however, you meant how much you are paying for 1 gallon WHEN IT HAS BEEN DILUTED, then: When diluting 32:1, you will add 32 gallons of water to make 33 gallons in total. You will then be paying: (40 + cost of 32 gallons of water) ÷ 33 ≈ 1.21 + the cost of 32/33 gallon of water. When diluting 50 to 1 you will add 50 gallons of water to make 51 gallons in total. You will then be paying: (49.40 + cost of 50 gallons of water) ÷ 51 ≈ 0.96 + the cost of 50/51 gallon of water.

How much did a gallon of gas cost in 1966?

Some resources say 11 ct, some 32 ct. Since the gallon cost 35 ct in 1969, I'd rather say 32 ct is more accurate. I was 18 years old and driving a 1965 Ford Mustang and living in Ventura. I was paying between 17.9 and 18.9... In 1968 I bought a 68 GTO and was paying 19.9 and could fill could fill up for about 3 dollars In my area of W-Ky a gallon of gasoline in 1966 cost .25 cents per gallon on average. Adjusted for inflation that is equal to $1.81 in 2013.
