96KHz implies 96000 samples/second. 24 bits is 3 bytes a sample. That would be 0.096 Million samples/second x 3bytes/sample x 60(seconds) x 72(minutes) = 1.24GB of raw data if you captured it as wav.

What does 24 bit 96 kHz mean?

24 bit is the resolution, or bit depth of the Audi. It is the number of binary digits that can represent different levels of audio. 96 kHz is the sample rate of the audio, or frequency which the audio is sampled. 96khz means there are 96000 samples per second for each channel of audio.

What is better Audio CD or DVD Audio?

I've been an audio engineer for the last 10 yrs. CD audio is 16 bit resolution at 44.1kHz sample rate. It is a stereo recording. This means it has a serarate left and right channel. DVD audio is 24 bit resolution at 96kHz samplerate (more than double that of CD). It is a 5.1 recording. This means that it has seprarate left and right channels, a center, left rear, and right rear channel (that's the 5 in 5.1). It also has a dedicated Low Frequency channel or "sub woofer channel" (that's the 1 in 5.1) So DVD has higher resolution and a higher sample rate with more channels that allow for surround sound where CD is not capable of doing true surround sound. Yes I know that you can play a CD in your can which has both front and rear left and right speakers, but that's not surround sound. It merely duplicates the front channels and plays them in the back. They are not dedicated surround channels like on a DVD or a 5.1 surround system.

How does DVD audio differ from CD audio?

DVD-Audio is a digital format for delivering high-fidelity audio content on a DVD. It is not intended to be a video delivery format and is not the same as video DVDs containing concert films or music videos. It offers many possible configurations of audio channels with far higher audio quality. So DVD-Audio has much more functions than CD audio.DVD audio recordings can provide far better sound quality than CDs. The chart below lists the sampling rate and accuracy for CD recordings and the maximum sampling rate and accuracy for DVD recordings. CDs can hold 74 minutes of music. DVD audio discs can hold 74 minutes of music at their highest quality level, 192kHz/24-bit audio. By lowering either the sampling rate or the accuracy, DVDs can be made to hold more music. A DVD audio disc can store up to two hours of 6-channel, better than CD quality, 96kHz/24-bit music. Lower the specifications further, and a DVD audio disc can hold almost seven hours of CD-quality audio. In an audio CD or DVD, each bit represents a digital command telling the DAC what voltage level to output. While an ideal recording would follow the raw waveform exactly, digital recordings sample the sound at different frequencies, and therefore lose some of the data.

You Have installed C-Media Audio in your system Will an add on sound card help improving the audio quality dramatically from your computer or will it be a waste Please advice?

The sound quality is a matter of the audio hardware, the software driver is irrelevant. Any decent sound card or USB/Firewire audio interface is a significant improvement over the built-in audio on motherboards/laptops. Units that are capable of higher sample rates (i.e. 24-bit 96kHz) generally do a better job, but beware of "upsampling".Upsampling is when the digital signal is converted to a higher resolution signal before converting to analog, which only serves to work the digital-analog converters harder trying to reproduce ultrasonic frequencies that aren't in the recording and humans can't hear. It only seems like a valuable feature because the numbers are higher, like more horsepower in a car. It's total crap. Look up the papers Dan Lavry has written on the subject if you're curious to know why. It's a LONG story.

How do you author Blu-ray audio?

Let me clarify one thing before I begin. The following guide is for what would be considered an "Audio-Blu Ray", Not a "Blu Ray-Audio". At the time of this presentation an official format or designation for a BD-Audio, (Blu Ray-Audio) is Not completed and in fact does not exist. Following this tried and true guide Will produce THE Best quality sound for your Blu Ray player and home theater system at this time. 1. Normalize your .wav files to 100% audio. 2. Remove clicks and pops with Groove Mechanic. 3. Add DSP effects with a Player using DFX audio enhancer. 4. Convert files to 5.1 surround, 24 bit-96khz with dbpoweramp Batch converter. 5. Author Blu Ray Video disc with TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 output set for 25 GB BD-R. A. Use Wizard to enter a black video insert. Black because your T.V. may be on all the time during playback and black will not leave "burn-in". b. Choose your "processed" audio files one at a time for Each track. C. Choose least allowed parameters for video part of each track, (Resolution and bit-rate), and leave audio parameters alone. D. You can list each track on menu page or no menu will automatically play all tracks. 6. Burn with favorite Blu Ray software. 7. Approximately 48 tracks will sound "awesome" over your surround system. My Bose speakers reproduce the processed files beautifully coming from my receiver in proper mode, out of my Blu Ray player. Out of experience I can say that, outside of shelling out big money for professional sound file encoders,( you know, the kind that they are using on studio produced Blu-Ray and DVD's ), this method will result in the Best Possible sound at the cheapest cost, coming over your surround system. Good Luck and Enjoy.

Why do you prefer Tidal than Apple Music or Spotify?

The reason I switched the platform from Spotify to Tidal for streaming is the sound quality. Honestly, Spotify does offer a good listening experience, but Tidal performs better in its lossless high-res quality. That is awesome. I bet not many audiophiles or music lovers can reject this. To help build and manage a whole big music library, I use a tool called Tunelf Tidal Music Converter to download and convert Tidal to MP3 or other popular audio formats for streaming at any time.
