The way we write out Roman numerals today differs in many respects in the way that the Romans actually did themselves inasmuch that today we would convert 19, 549, 99 and 999 into Roman numerals as XIX, DXLIX, XCIX and CMXCIX respectively which makes addition of them in some kind of logical fashion almost impossible.
But evidence can be gleaned from the past to suggest that the Romans would have used either of the following formats for calculating the equivalent of the above Hindu-Arabic numerals:-
IXX+IDL = DLXVIII (20-)+(550-1) = (568)
DLXVIII+IC = DCLXVII (568)+(100-1) = (667)
DCLXVII+IM = MDCLXVI (667)+(1000-1) = (1666)
Alternatively:-
XVIIII+DXXXXVIIII = DLXVIII (19)+(549) = (568)
DLXVIII+LXXXXVIIII = DCLXVII (568)+(99) = (667)
DCLXVII+DCCCCLXXXXVIIII = MDCLXVI (667)+(999) = (1666)
Note that: 5*I=V, 2*V=X, 5*X=L, 2*L=C, 5*C=D and 2*D=M
Roman numerals: M=1000, D=500, C=100, L=50. X=10, V=5 and I=1

You type roman numerals by using capital letters.
See answer to question: ' How do you add together 1666 and 1999 in two different ways using Roman numerals'
If you mean in Roman numerals then: 753 = DCCLIII
It is as follows:- M+XIII = MXIII (1000+13 = 1013) MXIII+XC = MCIII (1013+90 = 1103) MCIII+CM = MMIII (1103+900 = 2003) MMIII+IX = MMXII (2003+9 = 2012) Therefore the sum of the above using Roman numerals is MMXII (2012)

I would add 1999 and 51 together, getting 2050, and convert that to Roman numerals (MML) and hope that was one of the two possible methods.
The answer depends on how many more millennia they keep using Roman numerals!

Spend a day using only roman numerals instead of Arabic numerals. The disadvantages will become painfully obvious.
