If a small vacuum line fell off a 1996 Grand Cherokee and you can't see where it came from but it looks like it is from the transmission case how can you find out where it goes?

If it looks like a vacuum line it is probably just the breather hose for the t-case. The only other things that hooks up to the t-case is a few wires for the 4-wheel drive indicator lights and the speedometer cable. I think that hose reconnects towards the top somewhere so it may be hard to see where it goes. what if you have a small vacuum line that plugs onto the top of the front hogshead and the other end is loose, it is about 2-1/2 feet long and the opening looks like 1/32 or 1/64. Hi There. If it is similar to the 98 year, I believe it is indeed just a breather and it wraps around the air cleaner housing on the side that faces the engine.
