we make the assumption that all sides are equal length, that is to say it is a regular octagon. Then one side has length 12 if 2 sides have length 23. So the perimeter is 8x12=96 cm

If two polygons are similar then the ratio of their perimeter is equal to the ratios of their corresponding sides lenghts?

If two polygons are similar then the ratio of their perimeter is equal to the ratios of their corresponding sides lenghts?

Does an octagon always have perpendicular sides?

No! An Octagon that is not regular can have 8 lines that meet at any angle provided that they ultimately create an 8 sided enclosed shape.A regular Octagon, however, will always have pairs of sides that are perpendicular. In a regular Octagon the interior angles must all be equal and must sum to 1080 degrees (6 x 180 degrees). Accordingly the interior angles will all equal 135 degrees. As a consequence the exterior angles equal 45 degrees and since two exterior angles equal 90 degrees every side will be perpendicular to the sides that are adjacent but one in either direction. Likewise opposite sides (4 exterior angles apart) will be parallel.ThanksNoob headIf it is regular, yes. Each side of a regular octagon has two other sides that are perpendicular to it.

Is the area of a square or octagon larger?

The answer depends on their sizes! A small square will have a smaller area but a huge square will have a bigger area. Do the two shapes have equal sides, apothems, diagonals? Also, a square is a regular shape, what about the octagon?

How an octagon be equiangular but not equilateral?

You can do it in a way that is similar to making a square into a rectangle. Take a regular octagon - which has equal angles and equal sides. Grab a pair of opposite sides and pull apart. The angles will not change but two of the sides will be longer than the others. The above process can be repeated with each pair of opposite sides so that you end up with four pairs of sides with different lengths. It is possible to have all eight sides different but the process is somewhat more complicated.

How do you find the unknown length of one side of a triangle when you know the perimeter and the length of the other two sides?

subtract the two sides that you know from the perimeter to get the unknown side.

Does a octagon have to have two pairs of parallel sides?

It depends on the actual shape of that octagon. It CAN have two pairs of parallel sides. A regular octagon has 4 pairs of parallel sides.

What is the common perimeter of a rectangle and a trapezium?

These two plane figures do not have a common perimeter. As the opposite sides of a rectangle are of equal length then only the measurements of two adjacent sides are needed to calculate the perimeter. (Perimeter = 2A + 2B, where A and B are the lengths of adjacent sides) However, a trapezium does not necessarily have any of its sides of equal length and therefore all four sides have to be measured to determine the perimeter.

How do find the perimeter of a rectangle?

the perimeter is the sum of the length of every side of the geometrical figure. In your case, since you have 4 sides two of which are equal, the perimeter would be 2*(a+b) where a and b are the length of two sides

Is a octagon a quadrilateral and a parallelogram?

An octagon is neither a quadrilateral nor a parallelogram. "Quadrilateral" refers to a shape that has four sides. "Parallelogram" refers to a shape that has two pairs of opposite, congruent sides. An octagon has eight sides, and since eight is not equal to four, an octagon is neither a quadrilateral nor a parallelogram.

How many more sides does octagon have then a hexagon?

A hexagon has 6 sides. An octagon has 8 sides. Therefore an octagon has two sides more than a hexagon.

What is the perimeter of a rectangle length 45meters and width 10 meters?

A rectangle has two pairs of equal sides. So to calculate the perimeter, add two known sides and multiply by two. 45 + 10 = 55 55 x 2 = 110 Perimeter - 110 metres.

If you know the perimeter and lenght of a rectangle and want to find its width do you divide the perimeter by the length?

No. If you draw a rectangle there are four sides, the length of two of those sides are equal to the length, and the other two are equal to the width. Therefore: the perimeter, which is equal to all the sides added up, is equal to two times the length plus two times the width: or 2L+2W= Perimeter. If you know L and you know the perimeter you can solve it algebraically. the width equals the perimeter minus two times the length, all that divided by two, or W= (P-2L)/2 (when you do the algebra). you might be thinking about the area in which case if you knew the area and the length and you want to find the width you would divide the area by the length.

What is the perimeter of a rectangle 11 m x 5 m?

A rectangle has 4 sides and the opposite sides are of equal length. You therefore have two sides of length 5 m and two sides of length 11 m. To get the perimeter you add up the length of all the sides. I will leave this last bit for you to do.

What is the perimeter of a parallelogram with two adjoining sides measuring 12 feet and 5 feet?

Since a parallelogram has opposite sides parallel and EQUAL, perimeter is 12+12+5+5 = 34 feet

Does haxegon have fewer sides than an octegon?

Yes, a hexagon has 6 sides, and an octagon has 8. A hexagon has two fewer sides than the octagon.
