If you have a new salt generator and you want to run the filter only 8 hours a day should the generator and the heater be put on timers to match the time set for the filter?

The pump needs a time clock. Nothing works unless the pump is running. The pump needs to run approx. 8 to 15 or 18 hrs. depending on pump GPM and amount of water and bather load. The last I heard was that you could not put a time clock on a filter it has no electrical hook-ups - - you do know that the filter is the large tank next to the pool circulation pump....
