In LAX there is an X and if the X doesn't mean anything then why is there an X at the end of LAX?

It's because every airport needs a three letter code name and X just means space Because like how the abriviate Cross Country (XC) the X at the end means cross so it is really Lax<--X meaning cross.
I don't think it has anything to do with the word "cross."
