Straight.

That is the only requirement which applies to all four sides. In pairs, the sides have to be equal and parallel but that does not apply to all four. In [adjacent] pairs, the sides have to be at right angles, but that does not apply to all 4.

Why is a square both a rhombus and a rectangle?

A square is a rectangle. A square is a rectangle with equal sides. A rectangle Has to have 4 right angles (and only 4 corners). A Square has the same definition (4 right angles, and only 4 corners) but all the sides have to be equal. A square is not a rhombus. A rhombus is a parallelogram with equal sides. A parallelogram has to have 4 sides (2 pairs of equal sides.) The equal sides must be parallel. A rhombus has the same definition (4 sides - 2 pairs of equal sides. The equal sides must be parallel.) but all the sides have to be equal lengths.

A rectangle is a parallelogram with how many sides?

All rectangles have 4 sides. All parallelograms have 4 sides. A rectangle is a parallelogram with all 4 angles of 90°

Is a rectangle really a square?

A rectangle can be a square but a square cannot be a rectangle. No, for a shape to be a rectangle, it must have 2 pairs of parallel sides and 4 right angles. The square shares both of these qualities, but it also must have 4 congruent (same) sides, which means they must all be the same length. Therefore, a rectangle cannot be a square.

When is a square not a rectangle?

A square has 4 equal sides, and 4 equal angles and are considered paralellagrams A rectangle has 4 equal angles but not necessarily 4 equal sides, it is also a parallelagram.. On a square all sides are congruent, while in a rectangle only opposite sides are. So when is a square not a rectangle? what defines a rectangle and a square, each shape has to have 4 right angles. the sides are parallel and that in a square all four sides are congruent while in a rectangle only the opposite sides are congruent. So a rectangle must have opposite sides that are parallel and equal and four right angles. A square must have opposite sides parallel, all sides congruent, and four right angles. a rectangle is a parallelogram with four right angles, while a square is a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles. By this definition a rectangle is a square since it has opposite sides that are congruent and parallel and it has four right angles. The question is, why a rectangle is not a square? A rectangle is not a square because it is not required to have four congruent sides.

Is all sides of a rectangle the same length?

They can be, but they do not have to be. A rectangle has 4 sides and 4 right angles. Which means a square, which is a type of rectangle, would have 4 of the same length sides.

What is this questions shape has a 4 right angles it has 4 sides which are not all the same length what is this shape?

A rectangle. The opposite sides at least must be equal if all four angles are 90o.

Why is a rectangle a quadrilateral?

A rectangle is a quadrilateral because like all quadrilaterals it has 4 sides.

What shape has 4 sides not the same length and all are right angles?

A rectangle has 4 sides not the same length and 4 right angles.

Is a rectangle ever a square?

First answer: Yes, a rectangle can be a square if all it's sides are the same length. The definition of a rectangle is "a four sided figure where opposite sides are the same length. If all sides are 4 inches, then opposite sides will be equal.Second answer:~Yes, a rectangle can be a square. ~The definition of a rectangle: a parallelogram with four sides, the sides are parallel to each other, the sides parallel to each other are the same length, there are 4 right anglesDifference between a square and a rectangle: all of the sides are the same length in a squareConclusion: a square is always a rectangle but a rectangle isn't always a square.

True or False: A square is a rectangle?

True, a square can be classified as a rectangle - a rectangle must have 4 - 90° angles and it CAN have 4 equal sides. A rectangle cannot be classified as a square.

Are all sides congruent in a quadrilateral or parallelogram or rectangle or rombus or square?

a parallelogram, rectangle, rombus, and square all are quadrilaterals. a quadrilateral means a shape with 4 sides. only 2 sides are congruent in a parallelogram 2 sides are congruent in a rectangle 4 sides are congruent in a rombus 4 sides are congruent in a square

Is a square a rectangle and is a rectangle a square?

A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't necessarily a square. A square can be thought of as a "special" rectangle, where all sides are equal. The similarity is that all rectangles have 4 angles each of 90o However a Square has 4 sides equal length while a Rectangle has 4 sides with opposite sides of equal length. The clever observer will note that the adjacent sides of a square are equal while the adjacent sides of a rectangle may or may not be equal. yes it is
