Remember the golden rule: BIMDAS.

If you haven't heard it before B means bracket, I means indices, M means multiplication, D is division, A is Addition and S is subtraction.

So to answer your question multiplication comes before addition.

What are the rules when solving a problem with many different operations?

PEMDAS. Parenthases, exponent, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. Do parenthases first then exponents. Multiplication and divison are left to right. Then it's addition and subtraction, left to right. Hope I helped!

When simplifying an expression you perform which operations inside grouping symbols first?

Within parentheses or similar symbols, the same rules apply as when you don't have parentheses. For example, multiplication and division have a higher priority (or precedence) than addition and subtraction.Within parentheses or similar symbols, the same rules apply as when you don't have parentheses. What are rules telling in what order to do operations?

"PEMDAS" P- Parentheses E- Exponents M- Multiplication D- Division A- Addition S- Subtraction Note: multiplication and division are interchangeable. addition and subtraction are also interchangeable. parentheses THEN must stay the same, though.

What is matrix system?

A matrix is a rectangular array of elements - usually numbers. These, together with rules governing their addition and multiplication make up matrix algebra or system.

What are the differences between precedence and associativity?

Precedence rules specify priority of operators (which operators will be evaluated first, e.g. multiplication has higher precedence than addition, PEMDAS).The associativity rules tell how the operators of same precedence are grouped. Arithmetic operators are left-associative, but the assignment is right associative (e.g. a = b = c will be evaluated as b = c, a = b).

What is the basic rules in math equations in addition or brackets or division which goes first?

The answer is PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents [like squared or cubed], Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction). Brackets come before this expression always, so you could say BPEMDAS. Brackets first, division second, and addition last. Hope that helps.concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division comes under the study of basic math. The rules that tell which operation to perform first when more than one operation is used?

BIDMAS B = Brackets I = Index D = Division M = Multiplication A = Addition S = Subtraction

What is 4x2 plus 1?

Using the ordering rules of BODMAS: Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction = 4 x 2 + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9

How do you break a part a multi-step math problem?

BODMAS. Brackets, Order, Division, Multiplication, Addition & Subtraction. If the problem has numbers in brackets - solve those first (following the rules for the symbols in the bracketed part). Then numbers raised to a power (ordered) come next, followed by division, multiplication, addition and finally subtraction. For example... to solve (2x62)-3/4...The sum inside the brackets come first... 62 = 36 times that by the 2 = 72The sum 3/4 equals 0.75, and you subtract that from the 72 obtained in the first sum.. to give the answer 71.25

What are the rules in math equations with no brackets?

In the United States, the acronym PEMDAS is common. It stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction. PEMDAS is often expanded to the mnemonic "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally". This explains the order of operations. With no brackets, exponents are resolved first, then multiplication and division from left to right, then addition and subtraction from left to right.

Which of the basic rules of arithmetic are true when you restrict the number system to the positive integers?

Closure with respect to addition and multiplication. Cummutative, Associative properties of addition and of multiplication. Distributive property of multiplication over addition.

4 times 2 minus 7 times 8?

There are basic rules of math that must be followed. One of the rules is the order of precedence. This can be easily remembered using the mnemonic BODMAS: Brackets pOwers Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction, so when solving a problem brackets are solved first, followed by powers (e.g. 42), then division and multiplication (both have the same priority) followed lastly by addition and subtraction (again, both have th esame priority) so in the question 4x2 and 7x8 must be solved first before carrying out the subtraction. This gives the following solution:4x2 - 7x8 = 8 - 56 = -48
