N (which is an even number) must be >5 and is thus 6 or 8. If N = 6 then 2 x 462 = 924. As E = 2 then W cannot = 2. When N = 8 then 2 x 482 = 964 which is a valid answer.

If E = 4 then 2 x 4 = 8 : 2 x 8N4 produces a 4 digit product and is thus invalid.

If E = 6 then 2 x 6 = 12 : 2 x 2N6 = TW2. T must be 5 and thus N can only be 8 (as E = 6) then 2 x 286 = 572. W is therefore an odd number and is thus invalid.

If E = 8 then 2 x 8 = 16 : 2 x 6N8 produces a 4 digit product and is thus invalid.
